The territory is affected by strong volcanic and seismic activities; due to their origin many of the main islands have reliefs of a certain entity.

ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISIONS OF PHILIPPINES

   The country is administratively divided into 17 regions, 3 of which are special (those of the capital Manila, the Cordillera and Bangsamoro); the Bangsamoro region is the largest and the only one over 30,000 square kilometers, while Calabarzon, the capital region and Central Luzon are the most populous, all abundantly over 10 million inhabitants.

   In the Philippines there are a total of 53 cities with at least 250,000 inhabitants, most of which are located in the area of the capital Manila; the other major urban centers are located on Mindanao or in the Western Visayas around Cebu City.
