Mexico City and New York compete for the role of the most populous city in North and Central America, with the first one prevailing both considering the entire urban area or taking into account only the city limits; the difference is however slight in both cases.Los Angeles is the only other city to exceed 10 million inhabitants, always taking into account the urban agglomeration; 69% of the cities in the ranking are located in the United States of America, which is the most populated country on this continent.
Mexico and Canada, the other two most important countries of North and Central America, are present with some cities; some capitals of the most populous remaining nations complete the ranking.
