Mexico is quite a large country, and therefore it features many different landscapes and natural environments. It is bordered by both the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean, and it has mountains, often of volcanic origin, that rise to more than 5,000 meters in height.
The capital, Mexico City, is one of the largest metropolises in the world, and like many other Mexican cities, it has buildings that date back to the period of Spanish rule, which lasted for almost three centuries.
There are also numerous traces of pre-Columbian civilizations, such as the Aztecs and the Maya, visible in archaeological sites that today are among Mexico’s major tourist attractions.
