ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISIONS OF BURKINA FASO

Burkina Faso is administratively constituted by 13 regions, which in turn are divided into 45 provinces; the Est region is the one with the largest surface area, while the Centre region, although the least wide, is the one with the most inhabitants, thanks to the presence of the capital.

In the country there are two large cities, the capital Ouagadougou and Bobo-Dioulasso, while all the other inhabited centers are considerably smaller; the distribution of the cities is quite homogeneous, even if the north-eastern provinces are less densely populated, due to the more arid environment.
